Module Two Unit Work

Concept: Lists, Newsgroups, Chat & Messaging

Key concept points

  • Cyberspace is informationally created space

  • Non-speech communication through text; audience and authors responsibility

  • Privacy & Security

Important points in 'commanding' a list

  • Always address your mail to the listserver not the list-this is a breach of 'netiquette'.

  • Never add a subject title unless requested to by the listserver.

  • Never include a signature in your message to the listserver or add two dashes -- this tells the listserver to ignore the signature.

  • Use the help message to ensure you get the syntax exactly correct. Computers require an exact language.
